Well, other than I usually do some sort of Halloween or Fall theme for my sister Shauna's birthday card, and wanted to do something a bit different, I have no clue why I came up with a fish…I just wanted it to be colorful.  So there it is…a bubble blowing, colorful fish.  Happy Birthday sis!

My eldest daughter, Heather, and I have joyously reconnected after a rather long period of tension and estrangement, and her birthday has arrived at a most opportune time to renew my card tradition with her.
Heather has been living in the breathtaking town of South Lake Tahoe for the last year or so, and has been inspired and become passionate about nature, hiking, camping, painting, and photography, among other things, so I used some of these elements as inspiration for her card.  She actually has a pair of bright red hiking boots, and the dots are an ode to one of her favorite design elements.

As my mother becomes progressively more feeble in mind and body, the family caring for her in Idaho feel that the sun will soon be setting upon her earthly reign, making this Mothers day particularly poignant.

The rose can be likened to the human life cycle; from the seed, soil, water, and light emerges the tiny green sprout, stretching, yearning, evolving into the virile young bud, eventually bursting forth in the full bloom of maturity, both beauty and thorn, representing contrasts in character and experiences.  But inevitably, petals and leaves begin their fade, moisture turns sere and all too soon, the winds silently whisper, "take flight, that you may be free and begin anew."

Mom has lived a full life; a life of love, family, generosity, loyalty, friendship, service, talent, music, performance, vitality, spirituality, joy, heartache and tears.  She wasn't perfect, but she should be counted amongst the best!!  When peace takes her by the hand, she will be leaving a legacy to the countless lives she touched and enriched!

She is and will always be the beautiful rose.

While Arches National Park is actually northeast of St George, this is a striking and well known image from the red rock section of Utah, and I felt it was a fitting design for my friends annual golf tournament.  From some of the stories I've been told, a good majority of them might find it difficult to hit a hole even this large. ;)

Drawing caricatures for a wedding this month, and the couple wanted to get one done beforehand to commemorate their engagement while vacationing in Greece.

I don't know how well my weird sense of humor translates sometimes, or if it comes off at all, but be that as it may, this years birthday card for my sister Karen…and I really didn't send any cash! :)

Super Bowl 50 is coming to the delight of football fans everywhere...so my rendition of "Clash of the Titans"…39 year old, creaky, oft broken and mended legend of the Denver Broncos going head to head against the young, brash, macho "new kid" of the Carolina Panthers.
