This years Christmas card, and in keeping with the water theme, on the inside I drew aquatic critters, one for each of my daughters with a note and some moola.

Doing a gig at Crazy Harry's Bar in Winnetka this weekend for their 3rd year Anniversary party.  Harry is the owner, Jay his manager.  Will use this to advertise the event on social media.

My sister Shauna reached the half century mark this year and for some reason I wanted to go with something cute.  I settled on a cute owl.

My oldest, Heather, just returned home from her third trip to Italy, the last two as a nanny.  Having a goodly amount of free time, she took advantage by traveling to various cities in Italy, and extended trips to England and Switzerland.  During a hike in the Alps, she and her friends encountered a herd of very happy and amazingly CLEAN cows, afterward posting a video which included their melodious cowbells in "concerto".  Of course I just had to have "more cowbell" to help ring in her birthday. :)

Though called the Desert Classic, the group of friends who go on an annual golf tournament decided to try a different type of venue, this year choosing the land of 10,000 lakes for their weekend of fun, hence the watery theme and plucky duck.

Brayden's mom said he likes Godzilla and has a toy action figure, so I hope she doesn't find this depiction too mean or destructive for her 5 year old…but that, after all, is what Godzilla does!  The perspective is off a bit, but I had to tweak things to fit around Brayden's head, and since Godzilla is rather large, he can twist and contort however he wants. :)

Last year I drew some b/w caricatures that went on the programs and an advertising banner for the Norris Theater production of Arsenic and Old Lace, located in the Palos Verdes area.  The same client called to tell me a production he is involved in put on by the Laughing Stock Company at the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland will be closing after 18 years, and he wanted to present a gift to some of the main players as a commemoration, and deciding to do a caricature, he of course thought of me!  He will have the lettering done digitally…The Golden Horseshoe will go in the blank center area, the companies name and whatever else he decides will go above and below as both top and bottom fades out to white.  If the "girl" looks manly, it's because the part is played by a not so pretty man, which is a part of the comedy, haha!

Here is how it turned out with lettering added in digitally by the client.  I think it turned out pretty dang good!!

This is my latest commission from a young family which will be placed in a book as a gift for Father's Day.  Apparently this dad's favorite place to golf is near a beach…any beach.  I think he must have sunburned his nose on this occasion!!

After last years trip to Thailand with her sister followed by her third trip to Brazil, Lauren needed to replenish her cash reserves, and decided to renew her ties up on top of Mt. Wilson working at the Cosmic Cafe on weekends.  They are allowing her to use a little cottage at no charge whilst gainfully employed, but it had not been occupied for some time.  In desperate need of a deep cleaning, I went with her on two occasions to sweep, scrub, swab, and sanitize the place, and she was able to purchase some carpet seconds to lay down and help make the place her little home away from home.

In need of reliable, but fairly inexpensive transportation with good gas mileage, she has been thinking about buying a motorcycle to get up and down the mountainside, so that made it easy coming up with the idea for this years birthday card.  Since the mountains provide the occasional bear visitation, this cartoony and happy element was an easy add in with the bike.  Hopefully this doesn't give her ideas about how to drive a motorcycle!!!  ;-)

I was contacted to draw a "not so cartoony caricature" as a gift for a gentleman retiring from a company after 32 years.  Got this done fairly quickly and the woman who hired me seemed pleased, but how HE  likes it may be another story all together. :)

Since Kristi and her sister spent three months in Brazil recently and it's the season for Carnival/Mardi Gras, I considered the ornate masks worn during the celebrations and how Kristi's blue eyes would look beautiful underneath, so that is the theme for her birthday card this year.  She favors black and deep pink, hence the major colors chosen to compliment the look.  I wanted to emphasize the mask and eyes without drawing the whole face and head, the rest being filled in with imagination.

A musician called and is doing some sort of project…I didn't really understand what it is exactly, but this is going to be the cover for his presentation.  I was originally going to do this in Prismacolor, as that was what he wanted to pay for, but I decided on my own that it needed to be done in watercolor, though I won't charge extra.  I'm glad that I made this decision, and he said it was beautiful and better than he imagined.  That's what I like to hear!!

My sister Karen is always on the go and very hard to track down, even by phone or texting, so for this year's birthday card I thought of the Hummingbird, flitting from place to place in a rather manic manner, ending only when nestling for the night.  The whole process begins before dawn and repeats daily!!

Hollywood Hydra…"cut off the head" of a wacky "celeb monster" and two more appear and continue to create hot messes, bedlam and controversy.  Though many heads could be represented on this worm, I chose five that seem to be at the top of the charts for the moment.  For those that find my likenesses lacking, they would be Nicki Minaj, Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, and Katherine Heigl, done in ink and watercolor.

Love or hate these two somewhat androgynous train wrecks and all the attention they garner, I couldn't resist adding to the cacophony and have some fun with their images.
